Do you ever feel "too serious"?

I soooo needed to hear this today.  I'm hoping someone else out there does as well....so I'm passing it along to you:
You are more singularly focused these days, as if you have a final exam coming up soon and you need to be fully prepared. But taking your responsibilities too seriously can lead you to miss an important experience today as a subtle feeling washes over you to remind you of how wonderful life can be in the present moment. Doing your best is important, but performance isn't everything.
I'm not enjoying much of anything these days.  I think it's time to shift my focus, regroup, find a few positives in the here & now, and chill out[Does anyone even use the term "chill out" anymore?  I do!  I need to bring it back...just like Justin Timberlake brought "sexy back"!]  I've felt this way about many things over the years.  Sometimes, even my weight management journey.  I get too focused, too serious, and then nothing happens the way it should.  Right now, I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum (which is not OK)!   After trying on my favorite pair of jeans the other day, it's clear that my focus needs to be on what I'm eating instead of eating my way through this chapter of my life.

Unlike good beer & pizza, a-ha moments are hard to swallow.

Ugh. I hear ya. Not on the being too serious lately, but not being serious enough. I KNOW I need to get butt in gear, but just can't find the motivation/energy/etc. to do it. I did need to hear that today. Thanks!

Yea. I'm with you on this. Not the being too serious, but the lack thereof. Having such a hard time getting back on track. Can't figure out where my motivation is. Ugh. So, yea, kinda needed to read that today too. Thanks!

Hi, Heather! I know what you mean about the "too serious" and I also agree with the "not serious enough" comment. I totally understand!

Those aha moments are rough, but can be just what you need to put you back where you WANT to be. Right?

I lose focus a lot, but then I see a number on the scale that number that makes my eyes pop, and that throws me right back to reality.

I am struggling right now with a lot of stress and I've always dealt with stress "the wrong way". I'm handling it by going to the gym and just working out as hard as I can, but is that too serious? Could have backfired on me. Week before last, I lost 4 pounds in a week, which is very high for me, then last week, gained 2 (mother nature had a hand in that). This week, I'm feeling a little weaker, blew through
2/3rds of my WPA's at a birthday party, and again, working out like crazy, not really feeling in control at all.

BUT the good news is you know how to do it, you have ALL THE TOOLS you need to get in control, and YOU HAVE TONS OF SUPPORT! Always remember that YOU WERE a huge motivation for me (and I'm sure many, many others) and helped me to get to goal!

I have been on a downward spiral for some time. Inner Me doesn't want to track. Feeling overwhelmed at having to write everything down....so I don't. Any suggestions would be helpful.

How do you get serious when your inner self doesn't want to do it? Too overwhelming to write everything down and keep track...yet I use to handle it just fine. What gives????
