February 21-27 grocery savings (and a fab monthly/yearly savings total!)

Saving money saves my goal weight!  Sometimes I stress don't eat.  Other times I stress eat.  It just depends on where to mood takes me.  So, instead of coming up with ten billion different ways to snack myself around the issue, I'm simply making finances NOT so much of an issue.  Especially in this time of job loss for our family.  The last of the nasty, evil bills to tackle was the grocery bill (gag).  So I started using coupons over a year ago.  So far, so good.  This week I managed to save 65%.  I've certainly had better weeks, but had a few expenses that couldn't be helped.  CVS had a screamin' deal on my much needed wrinkle cream(s).  Ahhhh...gotta love getting old. Though they were great deals...but it still adds up. Here's this week's totals....
  • original cost $464.98 (*gasp*)
  • spent $166.38 (WAY more than usual - ouch)
  • saved this week $298.30 (whao, mama!)
  • saved so far this year $2,270.62 (yahoooo!)
 Here's what I got for $166.38.....

What was more impressive to me was looking over the monthly totals...
  • $1,232.42 original cost
  • $833.59 saved
  • $398.83 spent for the entire month!!!!!
I used to spend close to my monthly total in one week. lol  My how things have changed.  I love averaging things out.  I tend to get wrapped up in the moment, and forget that one bad week doesn't mean the whole month is shot to tell.   Kind of like with weight loss.  :)

I won't shop this week since we're fully stocked & I'm leaving for vacation.  Kent and the kids will be home (since I'm vacationing with friends & leaving the family behind), but they're ordering pizza, making chili fries, etc.  They have milk & bread & 20 jars of peanut butter in the storage room.  What more could they possibly need? lol
