Please note, this blog does not reflect the PointsPlus plan. I'm sticking with an earlier version of the plan because it has worked so beautifully for me over the years. Good luck with your journey, no matter what plan you follow!

Calgon, take me...to my sewing machine!

After the half marathon, my sports med surgeon / physical therapist told me to not do ANY exercise for a couple of weeks.  Sigh.  Do they not realize how much I depend on the evil beast I call "working out"?  Clearly, they have never been overweight and/or lost 80 pounds & then managed to keep it off for 8 years.  I'm getting old.  I'm a former fat chick.  I have to exercise!  But they said no.  No means no.  Switching gears.  I've mentioned many, many times before here on the blog that I sew to keep sane.  It's what I do.  I love it.  I decided it was time for a spring fling of some sort so I made myself this....

{the front}

{the inside (lottttts of pockets for all my junk)}

{the sassy little closure}

{not sure what to say about this one}

So, now you know what I've been up to since I'm not allowed to run or workout for a bit.  There are little moments here & there where I sneak away downstairs to sew.  No computers, email, cell phone, conference calls, places to be, etc.  Stress relief must come from somewhere.  I might as well be constructive with my "down time".  At least, that's what I keep telling myself! lol

That is a great bag! Can I have one? LOL

I know how you feel about the exercise. I am having IT band issues and don't have an appointment with the sports med doc until Monday. I am not running tomorrow with my running group for the first time in 2 months! It is so depressing! I hope your leg heals up and you can get back to exercising again soon!

Love the purse...so cute! I used to sew long ago (nothing complicated), but really want to get back into it...I suppose that means I should buy some equipment..ha!

Been missing you! The purse is so cute! You are so talented. I totally understand about the excercise. Drag! When can you start back up? Are you thinking about selling some more purses? If you do I hope I'm fast enough to buy one! LOL!

I love the bag! Can you tell us what pattern you used? I'm a bag-maker myself. Thanks for your blog also. You are so inspiring.

PATTERN: It's the Sassy Bag pattern, and I picked it up at our local quilt shop which just happens to be the most fabulous quilt shop ever, The Fabric Shack in Waynesville, Ohio. I don't recall which small company created the pattern, though.

Also, I altered the measurements to create a larger bag(I carry a lot of stuff & a small purse simply won't do). The original pattern makes a shorter bag that features the magnetic snap along the middle (skinny) band. Super cute, just not very functional for me. I also like longer handles, so I made sure to cut 26" instead of what the pattern stated.

I will warn you that the pattern is *awful*. Right down to at least 2 type-o's. Luckily, it's not that detailed of a bag to begin with so figuring out which path to take wasn't difficult.

Hope this helps! :)

Laura, during my last appointment I got the A-OK to go for either A) a walk that's not hilly & less than 5 miles or B) walk on the treadmill set no faster than 4.1 or B) the elliptical machine with no special settings for no longer than 30 minutes. Better than nothing! Kent and I went for a 4.25 mile walk a couple of nights ago, and I'll do the same today before it starts raining out. It takes everything I've got to not run. However, at least the doc is letting me do SOMETHING. So I'm thankful. lol
